A two Saturday event to explore Catholic teaching that God reveals Himself through nature, tradition and scripture. Lunch may be purchased. "Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature." -St. Augustine of Hippo. Please register for both dates. Information will be different for each day's presentation. Come explore Catholic teaching, that God reveals Himself chronologically through nature, tradition, and scripture, showing self-consistency between the three. It will have practical application in spiritual and ministerial work affirming God's unconditional love for us. Lecture will address the asymptotic- approaching but not touching - convergence between faith and science over a broad range of scientific disciplines in language that non-scientists can understand. It will include quotations from famous theologians, scientists, and scripture to demonstrate the convergence. Examples of content include: Anthropic Principle showing life was predetermined at the Big Bang.Uncertainty Principle and Chaos Theory and their relationship with free will and the Body of Christ.Gods and our continued role in co-creationThe extensive medical studies on the healing effects of theistic faith, liturgy, and prayer.Brain scans on the commonality of transcendent near-death and mystical experiences.Brain's wiring to enable overcoming confirmation bias and sin through prayer.Current research on the neuroscience and neurotheology of meditation and contemplation.Effects on the brain of medication and contemplation potentially leading to Divine healing and union.Relevant research conferences, interreligious conferences, and seminaries' curriculum.PASTORAL: Q & A discussion will follow, leading to applicable ministries. He is Co-founder and President of Contemplative Network, dedicated to interdenominational Christian contemplative prayer teaching, scientific research and interfaith dialogue. He was inspired by Trappist Monk, Fr. Thomas Merton, while on retreat at Gethsemani Trappist monastery. Later he was appointed by Trappist Fr. Thomas Keating, Commissioned Presenter of Contemplative Outreach Ltd. (COL) and Keating’s emissary to the first COL dialogue with the Mind & Life Institute, in response to an invitation by The Dalai Lama to Keating. He is retired Vice Chairman and current faculty member of the interfaith Institute for Spirituality and Health, the oldest such organization in the U.S.A. located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest in the world. He is also Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas and faculty member of the Magis Center and Spiritual Direction Institute at the Emmaus Spirituality Center. He has given numerous international and interfaith presentations, retreats and courses on contemplative prayer and Faith and Science, having degrees in both.
