From your instructor, Réka Morvay, IBCLC: Hi! I am an International Board Certified Lactation consultant, working both in-patient and out-patient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and in private practice at OC Lactation Consultant. I am also a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator and one-time home birth midwifery student. I have a Masters degree in Psychology from Cornell University, and I'm actually a trained therapist. I list these things because I think it will give you a good idea of how I approach breastfeeding: grounded in scientific evidence, but always aware of and sensitive to each family's unique physical and emotional situation, needs and goals. I love teaching, and have been teaching this particular class to my doula colleagues for 10 years. I've taught breastfeeding to all levels of practice: to parents, to doulas, to registered nurses, to physicians, to lactation educators, and to lactation consultant students. I also write curricula for fun. :) Because I'm a geek.
