Description

Press release from City of Waltham: December 14, 2021 The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) has issued guidance to local health departments on requirements for COVID-19 case investigation and contact tracing. The guidance takes into consideration the current status of the pandemic, the Commonwealth's success in vaccinating its residents, and the knowledge about viral transmission, risk of severe illness among certain vulnerable individuals, and the dynamics of outbreaks accumulated over the past 21 months. What this means is that not every individual who tests positive for COVID-19 will be contacted by a Waltham Health Department Public Health Nurse. The efforts of case investigation and contact tracing will be focused on long term care and assisted living facilities, congregate care settings such as group homes and shelters, daycares, preschools, and K-12 schools, and any outbreaks of disease that have evidence of ongoing transmission. The DPH isolation and quarantine information website has information and detailed instructions on what measures should be taken if you test positive for COVID-19 or are identified as a close contact to a positive case.  As always, please feel free to contact the Waltham Health Department at 781-314-3305 with any questions or concerns and see more on COVID-19 in Waltham here The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) has issued guidance to local health departments on requirements for COVID-19 case investigation and contact tracing.
