LOWELL, MA — A Lowell man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to a drug trafficking conspiracy where methamphetamine was disguised as Adderall, prosecutors said. Vimoon Sortsoy, 29, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release. Sortsoy was indicted on Jan. 27. His sentencing is scheduled for April 6. Sortsoy sold counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine to a witness cooperating with law enforcement as part of controlled purchases, according to the news release. In total, he sold about 400 grams of counterfeit pills. Sortsoy could face up to 40 years in prison for the charge of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.
