Happy Friday, New York City! Well, let's be honest — it's not so happy. As one Twitter user put it, this week felt "very much like the diet version of the day when we realized COVID was real." Anxiety washed over New York City as coronavirus cases surged to nearly 4,000 a day and the omicron variant spread. New Yorkers waited in long lines for tests, expressed their anxieties in TikToks and tuned in again to news conferences by the mayor and governor detailing another grim COVID winter.
