SHOREWOOD, WI — A high school basketball team in Shorewood is organizing to help those impacted by the recent tornadoes in Kentucky, and they're asking for their community's support. At least 76 people are dead and over a dozen more remain unaccounted for on Thursday in Kentucky after tornados ripped through the area on Dec. 10, WLKY reported. Beyond the devastation to human life, AP reports thousands across the state were left without power or running water in the days following the tornados. "Because Shorewood is a community of helpers, the Girls Basketball team is enlisting your support as they collect water to donate to the residents of Kentucky," the Shorewood School District posted on Facebook Wednesday. The team is hoping to collect at least 100 cases of water to be sent to those affected by the tornado, according to the district's post. The drive ends on Dec. 21 and district families can help the cause by dropping off cases of water at Shorewood's Athletic Office located in the PE/Wellness Building on the Shorewood High School campus. "Thank you in advance for your support!" the district wrote on Facebook. SEE ALSO: 5 Ways To Directly Help Kentucky Tornado Victims
