Press release from the University of Delaware: December 13, 2021 Carty was a quarterback on the Blue Hens' 2003 national championship team Ryan Carty was introduced on Monday, Dec. 13, as the University of Delaware's new football coach, the 25th in the program's history. Carty is a UD alumnus and played quarterback on the Blue Hens' 2003 national championship team. UD President Dennis Assanis and Chrissi Rawak, the director of intercollegiate athletics and recreation services, welcomed Carty at the news conference in the Whitney Athletic Center next to Delaware Stadium. Blue Hens fans were in attendance and cheered the announcement.
