BOURNE, MA — A Bourne middle school student made a threat to harm others in the school community Tuesday morning, according to Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou.
Quinlan-Zhou said police notified Bourne Middle School officials about the threat around 4 a.m. According to police, the student made a recording in which they talked about potentially harming others at school.
School officials and police investigated the threat and determined it was safe to make no changes to the school day and allow classes to continue as scheduled.
"I would like to reassure the entire school community that there is no active threat or danger to our school community," Quinlan-Zhou said in a statement. "We have seen similar incidents throughout the region in recent weeks, and we will continue to take these incidents seriously. I also want to thank the Bourne Police Department for its constant support in keeping our schools safe and secure."
