LEESBURG, VA — A pedestrian is being treated for life-threatening injuries after they were hit by a car in Leesburg on Thursday morning, the Leesburg Police Department said. Authorities said the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. on Thursday at the intersection of East Market Street and Fort Evans Road. At that time, a Leesburg Police Officer noticed an adult man lying in the roadway. Through their investigation, officers determined that the man was using the cross walk to cross East Market Street before he was hit. A vehicle turning left from northbound Fort Evans Road onto westbound East Market Street hit the man while he was in the crosswalk, police said. The driver, who police only identified as an adult woman, stayed on the scene after the crash. She is cooperating with police, according to a news release. The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. His injuries are considered life-threatening, police said. Now, authorities are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
