LAKEWOOD, CO ā First responders blamed Wednesday's windstorm on at least two fires in Lakewood. West Metro Fire Rescue rescued a parrot from a house following an attic fire in the 1900 block of S. Cody Way. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. Crews said the fire was potentially caused by an electrical issue stemming from the windstorm, which pulled down a tree and took down a power line nearby. Fortunately, there were no injuries. "The wind picked up loose roofing material that upended a rooftop HVAC system, knocking a gas line loose. There was moderate fire and water damage to the building. No injuries," the agency tweeted.
