'The Lion King' Broadway Show Coming To Austin In April

AUSTIN, TX — Disney's most popular broadway show will be making a stop in the Live Music Capital of the World in April 2022, officials said. The show will run from April 7-24 at the Texas Performing Arts Center's Bass Concert Hall, 2350 Robert Dedman Drive. The North American touring productions of "The Lion King" have been seen by more than 20 million theatergoers. Having already played more than 90 cities across North America, "The Lion King" now proudly returns to Austin at Bass Concert Hall. After 24 landmark years on Broadway, the musical continues ascendant as one of the "most popular stage musicals in the world." Since its premiere on November 13, 1997, 25 global productions have been seen by nearly 110 million people. "The Lion King" has made theatrical history with six productions worldwide running 15 or more years, with four of those running 20 or more years, officials said. The shows will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sundays, officials said. Tickets start at $35 and are available online at Texas Performing Arts or Broadway in Austin for purchase. Patrons call also purchase tickets by phone at 512-477-1444, or from the Texas Performing Arts ticket office at Bass Concert Hall. Officials said the Texas Performing Arts and Broadway in Austin are the only "official" retail ticket outlets for all performances at Bass Concert Hall. Ticket buyers who purchase tickets from a ticket broker or any third party should be aware that Texas Performing Arts is unable to reprint or replace lost or stolen tickets and is unable to contact patrons with information regarding time changes or other pertinent updates regarding the performance.
