NEW MILFORD, NJ — A New Milford surveyor is facing multiple charges after a Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a child. The investigation began on Dec. 10, when the New Milford Police Department reported the alleged sexual assault to the SVU. That investigation found that John Cruz-Ayala sexually assaulted a child on multiple occasions, prosecutors said. He was arrested on Dec. 13 in Moonachie, New Jersey, and faces charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact. Cruz-Ayala was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in court, prosecutors said.
