WHEATON, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office will increase patrols during the holiday season in an effort to crack down on impaired driving. The campaign will be in effect Dec. 17 through Jan. 3.
"Driving impaired, whether under the influence of alcohol or drugs, can have catastrophic consequences and is illegal in every state,"DuPage County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Justin Kmitch said in a news release.
Kmitch added, "Not only do you put yourself at risk, but the lives of others as well."
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office recommends the following tips to avoid impaired driving this holiday season:
Designate a sober driver, arrange a ride-share or plan to take public transitCall the Woodridge Police Department if you spot someone who may be driving impairedTake keys away from impaired drivers before they get behind the wheelBuckle your seatbelt DuPage County's holiday enforcement efforts are part of a statewide campaign that focuses on impaired driving awareness.
