Here are the top 5 stories in Sacramento today: More than 500 people were still without power in downtown Sacramento Wednesday night and power won't be restored for everyone until today, according to SMUD. This follows a fire and explosion at SMUD's downtown substation on Tuesday. Crews are working around the clock to restore energy. The outages are impacting traffic lights, many of which are still dark at intersections throughout the city. Some have described crossing the streets as a game of chance at some downtown Sacramento intersections. "Something like this really has never happened before," SMUD Spokesperson Lindsay VanLaningham said. As of 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, SMUD says the cause of the substation fire was still unknown. (CBS Sacramento)Authorities in Sacramento said posts have been making rounds nationwide on TikTok regarding potential school shootings on Dec. 17. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said it hasn't found any credible threats against county schools. "We are working closely with our law enforcement partners and understand that there is no credible threat to schools in EGUSD or Sacramento County," Elk Grove Unified said in a message to parents. People are encouraged to report any threats or suspicious activity to the school or to law enforcement. (ABC10)The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said it arrested a North Highlands woman Tuesday morning for allegedly killing her sister. Police responded to a home on Rutherford Way near Winthrop Court. The call for help came from the victim's husband who went looking for his wife after she failed to return from her sister's home. Authorities said the woman had "extensive physical trauma" and was "obviously deceased" when they arrived. Deputies said they determined the suspect to be the victim's sister, 59-year-old Sandra Lee Marquette, who had left the scene before they arrived at the home.
