Old school R&B players

Old guy bass player here. I think it'd be fun to play some old school R&B songs by artists like Tyrone Davis, Clarence Carter, Delbert McClinton, Bruno Mars, Mayer Hawthorne, etc. Work up some tight arrangements and then find some open mics to play them at. I'm not trying to start a gigging band, but I would like to find a way to play stuff like this in front of audiences.
