Palo Alto Humane Society Seeks Donations For Daisy's Day 2021

PALO ALTO, CA — The Palo Alto Humane Society's annual Daisy's Day 2021 fundraiser runs through Dec. 31 with a goal of raising $100,000 to help sick or injured animals in Palo Alto and the Peninsula. The Daisy Fund provides common veterinary services from exam fees and pain medications to emergency surgery. So far, more than $70,000 has been raised. Daisy's Day, which is named after a shelter dog, raised more than $200,000 in 2019 and 2020. The funds helped 177 stray and rescued animals through the humane society's Animal Rescue Fund, and an additional 71 animals through the Pet Help program. The money also helped spay and neuter 210 dogs and cats. "After Daisy passed away, I wanted to do something to help other pets obtain vital veterinary care that their families otherwise could not afford," said Sue Klapholtz, who founded the Daisy Fund. "Several years ago, I donated to PAHS in honor of Daisy to start the Daisy Fund to provide lifesaving veterinary care to families who otherwise could not afford it." This is the fifth annual fundraiser organized by the humane society. Palo Alto Humane Society Executive Director Carole Hyde added that Daisy's Day 2021 "is vital in raising the funds to save the lives of pets and strays in need."
