ELMHURST, IL — An sex offender who was charged with trespassing at an Elmhurst school last year pleaded guilty last month, a newspaper reported. Frank J. Battaglia, 74, of Bloomingdale, was sentenced to one year of conditional discharge, according to the Daily Herald. Under such a discharge, a crime does not go on a person's record as long as a number of conditions are met. On Feb. 7, 2020, Battaglia attended an event at Emerson Elementary School. In 2019, Battaglia was a volunteer offensive line coach with the football team at suburban Lake Park High School, according to a Daily Herald report. The newspaper said Battaglia pleaded guilty in 1992 to sexual abuse of a girl 13 to 16 years old a year earlier while she was a student at the former Driscoll Catholic High School in Addison. Lake Park's coach, Chris Roll, was later fired in connection with recruiting Battaglia as a volunteer coach.
