Mark Fagin Resigns From Beaverton City Council, Served Nine Years

BEAVERTON, OR — City Councilor Mark Fagin has resigned. The 13-year veteran of the city council made the announcement at the council's meeting on Tuesday. Fagin's resignation is effective January 1, 20222. The council accepted his resignation, which he said he was offering for personal reasons. He added that part of the decision was driven by the fact that both his family and business are growing. "It has been an honor to serve the community as a Beaverton City Councilor," Fagin said. "This was a difficult decision; this experience has been very rewarding. "I am proud of the improvements made in the last decade and the projects in the works give me confidence that the city is on a good path. I look forward to watching the progress as Beaverton continues to evolve." By resigning now, the city will be able to hold an election in May to fill his seat. The council may appoint someone to serve as an interim councilor until then. Mayor Lacey Beaty praised Fagin, adding that "making the decision to step down is never easy, but "I honor Councilor Fagin's commitment to his family."
