DANVILLE, CA — The Danville Police Department said there was no evidence of any credible threats against local schools amid a nationwide social media trend that threatened violence at schools Friday. Police said they were working with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and would have extra officers in and around Danville schools Friday, said town spokesperson Nicola Shihab. The trend originated on video-sharing app TikTok, which is particularly popular among youth. An image containing an anonymous, vague threat of gun violence was widely circulated. Various iterations of the post have apparently been shared and some officials say the post was intended as a way to skip school. "Our schools will be open and will stay vigilant and take additional safety precautions," the district said in an open letter. Parents were encouraged to speak with students about the importance of reporting anything suspicious to police or the school district.
