MARIETTA, GA — The city of Marietta's newest city coucilman was sworn in this week in a small ceremony at City Hall.
M. Carlyle Kent, who was just elected to the Ward 5 City Council seat over incumbent Reggie Copeland, was sworn into office Monday, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. He was joined by fellow Councilman Johnny Walker, Councilman-elect Andre Sims, family, supporters and faith leaders.
Kent briefly mentioned his priorities as a new official, including fixing Lawrence and Washington streets without making them one-way roads, the MDJ reported. The one-way roadways were a contentious issue among residents during Copeland's tenure.
