WORCESTER, MA — On a dark, rainy night in Worcester, dozens of people showed up to sing. Worcester resident Echo Louissaint put out a call on social media Tuesday asking for carolers to come to her home and sing to her mother, Morgan Freeman, who is in hospice care with cancer. It was the woman's dying wish to hear Christmas carolers one last time. Louissaint's Facebook post quickly gained attention in local media and was shared more than 100 times across social media. Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, close to 40 people gathered outside Louissaint's Winslow Street home to sing to Freeman. "Individuals, neighbors, choirs, singing groups, caroling groups, children… they all showed up, with literally bells on in the cold icy rain for my mama," Louissaint said Thursday morning. At one point, Freeman got in on the action, singing "Dock of the Bay" from her bed with guitarist Charles Ketter. The carols capped a day of celebrating Freeman. Louissaint's twin sister, Bri Cole, and other family members came to visit, and they dined on some of Freeman's favorites — strawberry rhubarb and lemon meringue pie, a blooming onion and steaks.
