Description
ATLANTA, GA – Some Black women living in poverty in Atlanta will soon have financial help from a new initiative looking to level the playing field for women of color.
The project called "In Her Hands" will give 600 low-income Black women living in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward a monthly $850 over the course of two years as part of a partnership between the Georgia Resilience and Opportunity Fund and Give Directly, CBS46 reports.
The pilot anticipates distributing more than $13 million by its culmination, according to The Root, and seeks to study the impact that guaranteed income has both economically and mentally on recipients.
