BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham police officer was injured in a crash on First Avenue North Wednesday night. The crash involved a police SUV and a civilian vehicle, according to an AL.com report. The crash occurred in the 8600 block of First Avenue North just before 9 p.m. The officer was taken to UAB Hospital after the crash. The other motorist was not injured. Police have not confirmed the extent of the officer's injuries after his police cruiser flipped and landed on its roof, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
