Job Title: Press Operator Trainee Department: Production Status: Full-time with benefits The Santa Maria Times is looking for an energetic addition to our press crew. The press team works together to produce multiple print products according to customer specifications and within deadlines. The ideal candidate will be at least 18 years of age, have a high degree of mechanical aptitude, a desire to learn, and be a positive team player. This is a full-time position that requires availability during nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Skills required: • printing experience is highly desired but we’ll train the right person • comfortable and able to climb ladders • comfortable and able to operate machinery • excellent hand-eye coordination and color vision • able to lift 50lbs repeatedly • work in a safe and efficient manner • work in a loud environment where hearing protection is required Responsibilities: • loading newsprint • setting ink densities • registration • filling ink fountains • setting folder • plate making • clean up as needed Benefits: Santa Maria California News Media offers an affordable benefit package to all full time employees including medical, dental, life, and vision insurances, and 401K.
