Job Title: Newspaper Inserter Department: Production/Mailroom Status: Part-time The Santa Maria Times is looking for a hard working addition to our mailroom crew. The ideal candidate will be at least 18 years of age, demonstrate a positive attendance record, have a desire to learn, and be a positive team player. This is a part-time position that requires availability during nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Skills required: • able to load up to three inserts at one time • able to lift up to 40 lbs • work in a safe and efficient manner • work in a loud environment Responsibilities • feeding pre-prints into insert machine hoppers • verifying inserts for accuracy • verifying counts of newspapers • labeling and topping newspaper bundles/pallets • bundling and shipping newspapers/preprints • helping machine operator(s) by staging inserts and unwrapping pallets • helping maintain inserting/mailroom as a clean and safe environment • reporting unsafe conditions to management • occasional operation of a hydraulic pallet jack • occasional operation of powered strapping equipment
