Description
Drummer wanted for new band starting up in Sarasota area. You need to be able to sing backup harmonies decently too. (If you can do some lead vocals as well, so much the better.) We will play 60’s-00’s classic rock and classic soul/R&B, with a few other types of tunes occasionally thrown in for variety (but no rap, metal, traditional country or originals, and no more than a few blues tunes). The specific tunes we’ll play will be chosen by the band as a whole, but we’d be happy to send you a song list to illustrate the kind of varied, non-cliché repertoire we have in mind.
We already have (i) a professionally-trained female lead singer who also plays keyboard (besides lots of band experience, she has sung at Carnegie Hall), (ii) a talented male lead singer and lead guitarist who was a former touring pro, and (iii) a solid veteran bass player with over 40 years’ experience. We may add a second guitarist/singer, but that is TBD. We had a drummer, but he recently developed a serious health problem and had to drop out.
We are seeking a reliable, team-player type who is quality-oriented, committed to playing every tune well as a matter of pride and professionalism, and willing to put in the necessary homework. This project will require learning new material and a lot of work. “Just show up and play what I already know” types would not be a good fit.
Rehearsals will be once a week, day and time TBD. All band decisions, including song selection, will be made on a collegial basis so that everyone has an equal say.
If interested, please give us a call at
or reply to the e-mail address above. Alternatively, if you are not interested personally but have a friend whom you think might be suitable for and interested in this project, please pass this message along. Thanks very much.
