Just like the title says. Conventional rock type of music but wrenched out of the box, edgy, dissonant at times and catchy. Very different from todays top twenty type music. No pop, electronic dance music, rap, shoegaze type music.
Be on key with a real set of pipes and an interesting vocal texture that gets attention and get to the outer fringe of radio friendly and this could possibly work out well, better than you ever expected.
We're not doing ukulele or acoustic stuff that's for sure and Bel Canto, Broadway Theater style vocals with tons of vibrato are definitely the wrong approach. If you can't turn off your nonstop vibrato please pass on this; it's not the big band era anymore and the vibrato thing is out of date for rock type music ever since The Beatles.
The best fit would likely be someone who has performance training--acting, improv, voice over characterization experience along with singing.
