Description

Finding Hope’s “Journey to Joy” retreat allows you to connect with others who understand the ups and downs of loving an addict. Loving someone addicted to drugs or alcohol brings a mix of emotions and feelings, and the journey is often incomprehensible. Finding Hope’s “Journey to Joy” retreat gives you the opportunity to travel this road in a safe and relaxed atmosphere with others who understand the ups and downs of loving someone addicted to drugs or alcohol. “Journey to Joy” will allow you to find joy amid your storm through keynote speakers, breakout sessions, small group discussions, worship, and self-care. By walking through this journey together, we can begin to find hope and joy in our circumstances. Hear from these keynote speakers: Amy LaRue is the Finding Hope Coordinator and a loved one of an alcoholic. Amy attended her first Finding Hope meeting in 2015 and learned she was NOT alone, it was NOT her fault, and there was HOPE. In 2020 God called Amy to become the Finding Hope Coordinator for Hope is Alive. Amy’s mission is to give support and HOPE to others in the storm of loving someone addicted to drugs or alcohol. Peter Ninemire served 10 years of a 27-year sentence for cultivation of marijuana before he received a presidential commutation of sentence from former President Bill Clinton on January 20, 2001. Peter helped establish the Jericho Road prison youth counseling program when he was in prison. After his release, he continued to pursue the same line of work as he gained his Substance Abuse Licensure in 2002 and graduated with a master’s degree in social work from Wichita State in 2006.Julie Sanford is a wife and mom of three who found herself in a situation she never wanted to be in as the wife of an alcoholic. Julie now helps other wives of alcoholics navigate their spouses’ addictions without losing themselves in the process and shows them how to restore their often-troubled relationship with God.
