A hands-on introduction to the requirements of a career in the fire service and to better prepare students for an academy
This program is designed to introduce students to the requirements they will face in a fire service career and to better prepare them for an academy. The program has an emphasis on fitness and familiarization with a fire academy training style. Student will be supervised by firefighters who will provide a profession, realistic level of training and counseling.
o Learn what to expect at a fire academy
o Injury prevention
o Functional movement, strength, power and endurance
o Network with other candidates
Activities Include:
• PPE • SCBA
• Hand Tools • Power tools
• Hose handling • Ladders
• Forcible Entry • Fire Extinguishers
Required Attire:
• Work/utility gloves
• Loose fitting mid-thigh navy blue shorts
• Navy blue or white T-shirt
• White ankle socks and running shoes
• NO: Tank tops, stretch pants, skin-tight shorts or dolphin shorts
• Lunch will not be provided, please bring snacks and a water bottle

4 Consecutive Saturdays
January 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th from 0800 – 1200
