Emergency protest rally against new U.S. sanctions on North Korea. The Biden administration has just imposed new economic sanctions on North Korea which will cause suffering for millions of Korean people and deny their sovereignty. These sanctions are a crime and a provocation by the U.S. empire that must be met with resistance. The fate of Korea should be decided by the Korean people and not the U.S. government! These are the first new U.S. sanctions imposed on North Korea since the Biden administration took office, continuing the hostile policy of the Trump / Bolton / Pompeo White House who imposed similar sanctions one year ago. Sanctions are a form of warfare and this is yet another attack in the Korean War which the U.S. has so far refused to end with a peace treaty. These new unilateral U.S. sanctions target ordinary North Korean workers in particular who work with businesses abroad. Go Myong-hyun, a research fellow at Asan Institute, said “The Biden administration, by designating even the animation studios — that get contract work for sanctions — is sending a very strong message to North Korea and the rest of the world that the U.S. government is going to really not leave any stone unturned and make sure that the North Koreans don’t get even a single cent of profit by trading with the outside world."
