We have an immediate opening for a Biorepository Maintenance Technician at our laboratory in Tucson, Arizona. Summary: To provide our internal customers with technical expertise while maintaining the highest quality services possible. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned: - Performs inventory management to include receiving, assessment, storage, transferring, and distribution of medical specimens/devices. - Adheres to strict guidelines when handling specimen/devices while performing inventory management functions. - Performs related shipping and receiving functions of medical specimens/devices to include picking/packing, serial number/lot number verification, package preparation, scanning, courier interaction, tracking of incoming and outgoing shipments, and general follow-up as needed. - Responds to biorepository alert systems with appropriate follow-up action - Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect specimen integrity and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, manager, or director of biorepository operations. - Performs on-call duties and responses to biorepository alert systems - Performs equipment monitoring and maintenance on all biorepository related equipment - Performs quality control checks on all biorepository related equipment - Interacts and updates various databases related to biorepository functions and activities - Provide administration support by produces various reports and record keeping associated with biorepository functions and activities - Adheres to strict safety guidelines - Handles liquid nitrogen (LN2) utilizing personal protective equipment and good safety practices. - Participate in proficiency testing as required. - Assist in external/internal audit preparations as required. - Adheres to all company policies and procedures - Performs other duties and projects as required - Must be able to routinely lift and carry Basic Qualifications: - High School diploma (or equivalent) required - A minimum 1-2 years related experience and/or training or a combination of education and alternative industry experience Preferred Qualifications: - Associates degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences - Two years related experience in science, laboratory, inventory, shipping and/or receiving Computer Skills: - Ability to accurately transcribe data from electronic or paper records to a computer database. - Basic knowledge of common computer software such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Google Suite. Other Skills and Abilities: - Strong attention to detail. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. - Responds effectively to clear directions and follows set procedures. Solves immediate problems, escalating where appropriate. Sees individual tasks through to completion. Special Working Conditions: - Laboratory/Manufacturing environment - The employee is regularly required to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time. - The employee is regularly required to stand and walk; and occasionally required to climb, balance or stoop. - Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 54 pounds - Moderate exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and toxic chemicals, especially Liquid Nitrogen Please Note: As a Life Sciences company, Generate and our brands are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of not only our clients and communities, but our employees as well.
