Agricultural Farm Technician Miller Farms Colfax, Washington Full Time: 40+ hr work week Permanent Position: Beginning Jan 2022, 2+ years desired Schedule: Work days are Monday through Friday. We work Saturdays during seasonal field work, but we always take Sunday off. Hours during the off-season are slightly more flexible. Compensation: 40-60k salary for qualified applicant DOE. Benefits: Full medical coverage, up to 4 weeks paid vacation, flexible hours, and company vehicle for commuting. Company Description: Miller Farms is a small family-operated business located in beautiful southeastern Washington. Located in the beautiful rolling hills of the Palouse, our large dry land farm grows Wheat, Chickpeas, Hay, and Canola. We have around 6 people working year round, and employ over 20 during our busy harvest season. We are responsible for the land, the maintenance of our equipment, and the safety and well-being of our employees. We highly value family, faith, and teamwork. Job Description: Year-round, 40+ hours a week, up to 60 hours a week during harvest season. Monday-Friday, including Saturdays during the busy season. Overview: Miller farms is looking for an Agricultural Shop Coordinator who is comfortable with our style of farming. We are looking for someone who is disciplined, self-motivated, and a team player. Our ideal applicant has experience in Ag and shop work, and will be able to troubleshoot mechanical problems and lead repairs. Responsibilities: • Operate, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, including but not limited to: Tractors, combines, semi-trucks, forklifts, fuel pumps, sprayers, and more. • Perform field labor including seeding, harvesting, spraying, and more. • Perform shop labor including mechanic work, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and more. • Be able to function independently without constant need for supervision • Assist with ensuring fields are properly planted, fertilized, maintained, and harvested. • Assist with directing and monitoring the work of seasonal help during harvest season. Background and Skills: • Ability to operate heavy equipment, experience operating tractors and combines strongly preferred • Mechanical experience – problem solving, resourcefulness, and common sense are must-have. • Experience in a farming-related field is a plus. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. • Good communication skills. • The ability to make decisions. • Willingness to work overtime as required.
