WEST HAVEN, CT — Democrat Treneé McGee won the special election Tuesday to fill the vacant seat in the 116th House District following the resignation of Michael DiMassa in October. McGee, a West Haven City Councilwoman, defeated Republican Richard DePalma and independent Portia Bias in the three-way race, according to the New Haven Register. The 116th District includes parts of West Haven and New Haven. The Connecticut Mirror reports unofficial results showed McGee winning with 572 votes, while DePalma garnered 471 and Bias received 45. DiMassa was arrested Oct. 20 on a federal complaint on accusations that he defrauded West Haven out of more than $636,000 in COVID-19 relief funds.
