Press release from the Town of Dedham: 12/14/2021 8:00 AM Do you own a home and pay real estate taxes here in Dedham? Are you 60 years of age or older? If you answered yes to both questions, you could earn up $1,500 in property tax credits by volunteering in Town offices as part of Dedham's Senior Tax Work-Off Program. "The Senior Tax Work-Off Program is a great opportunity for seniors and veterans over 60 years of age to provide administrative support and other services to Town Departments, while earning a reduction in their property taxes," said Council on Aging Director Sheila Pransky. Over the course of the program year, from December 1 to November 1, participants in the program can work up to 150 hours to receive the maximum benefit of $1,500 off their real estate tax bill in the following fiscal year. "Currently, we have a small group of volunteers who participate in the program and provide administrative support to departments around Town, but we would like to see more of our seniors take advantage of this great financial savings opportunity," said Sheila. New opportunities are being added to the program as they become available, and participants will be contacted by the Council on Aging Department when openings are available. "We see this opportunity as a win for everyone because our seniors can earn the financial benefit on their taxes, and our staff can use this additional support to continue to provide efficient and quality services to the entire community," said Sheila. To qualify for the program, you must: Be 60 years of age or older Be a resident of Dedham who owns a property and pays real estate tax Meet income limit requirements (Single = $30,000/year; Married Couples = $40,000/year) Be current with property tax payments Complete a CORI check Complete the application and provide annual income verifications Complete an interview with the COA Director Printed copies of the application and program information are available at the Ames Senior Center, located on the first floor of Town Hall at 450 Washington Street.
