PIERCE COUNTY, WA — The Pierce County Sheriff's Department has arrested two minors who, deputies say, were behind a string of crimes that caused over $700,000 in damages. According to investigators, the two suspects, aged 15 and 17, recently burned down a home and vandalized five others. All of the incidents took place at a new housing development under construction in the South Hill area. Damages from the burned home totaled $624,636 with the other vandalization causing an additional $95,000 in damage. Images from the crime scenes show broken glass, punched in walls, and doors torn off their hinges. (Pierce County Sheriff's Department) On top of those incidents, deputies say the duo also caused about $4,675 in damage to local schools — with two burglaries at Woodland Elementary School and a vandalism incident at Firgrove Elementary — and stole $1,300 worth of tablets. The two suspects were identified through fingerprints left at several of the crime scenes, investigators said. They have since been arrested, and charged with a combined 13 felonies.
