CANTON, MA - Canton voters approved the debt exclusion to fund the purchase of the former property of St. Gerard Majella Church by a nearly 63 percent margin Tuesday night in a special election.
A majority vote was needed to approve the purchase after Canton Special Town Meeting members approved the $3.305 million debt exclusion for the property located at 1860 Washington St. The exemption from Proposition 2 ½ will allow for the financing of the 20-year bond. The money will be used for the purchase as well as project consultants, including engineers, financial advisors and surveyors.
