MIDDLETOWN, CT — There will be an increased police presence in Middletown schools as a safety precaution due to unspecified nationwide threats to schools, according to officials. Middletown police recently received information regarding the unspecified nationwide threats to schools, according to Chief Erik Costa. "These threats have been vague and we have no information to suggest they are credible or being directed at our community schools," Costa wrote in a news release. "The Middletown Police take every threat seriously and recognize that this type of information causes concerns for parents and students. As a result, we will be increasing our presence in the schools as a safety precaution and to help alleviate any fear associated with these threats." Anyone with information regarding a threat directed at Middletown Public Schools is asked to contact the Middletown Police Department immediately at 860-638-4000.
