Princeton School District Appoints 2 New Interim Superintendents

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Public Schools (PPS) announced the appointment of two interim Superintendents to the district on Tuesday. Kathie Foster is slated to head the Department of Curriculum & Instruction and Rebecca Gold will helm Human Resources. They are expected to take up their new positions in January, the district said. Foster was approved as Interim Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction by the Board of Education and her appointment is expected to be approved by the Mercer County Superintendent later this month. Foster served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Robbinsville Public School District between 2016 and 2020. She will replace Dr. Robert Ginsberg until a permanent replacement is found, the district said, Ginsberg, a well-known educator at PPS since 1988, announced his retirement In September. Gold was Director of Personnel and Administrative Services for Lawrence Township Public Schools, and Director of Educational Technology, between 1986 and 2015. She replaces Michael J. Volpe, who left the district in December. "Princeton Public Schools is able to attract outstanding educators and I am pleased that Dr. Foster and Ms. Gold will work with us while we complete our searches for permanent replacements," Carol Kelley, PPS Superintendent of Schools said in a statement. "Both Dr. Foster and Ms. Gold have many years of valuable experience as educators in New Jersey and specific knowledge and understanding of public schools in Mercer County. I look forward to working with them." Foster served both as Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in Robbinsville, as well as Principal of the Pond Road Middle School. She was awarded an Ed.D. with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania after completing the Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership. In addition, she has a Master's of Educational Administration degree (with distinction) from Rider University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Gold, who will serve as Interim Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, spent more than 25 years in leadership roles while at Lawrence Township Public Schools. Most recently, she was the Interim Director of Human Resources at Hamilton Township Public Schools. She also serves as Assistant Director of Retirement & Benefits for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA). Gold has a Master's Degree in Education from Brooklyn College, City University of New York, as well as a Bachelor's Degree from Brooklyn College, City University of New York.
