Police Say New Brunswick Boy, 14, Made Violent Threats To School

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — On Tuesday, New Brunswick Police and detectives with the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office charged a 14-year-old teen who they said was making violent threats against New Brunswick High School. The teen boy is a freshman at the high school. Police said he sent a text message threatening violence in school. Police did not reveal exactly what his text message said. The text message circulated online via social media, striking a panic among students, parents and school faculty, said police. As Patch previously reported, extra police officers were stationed throughout New Brunswick High School and outside the school on Monday, said superintendent Aubrey Johnson. The teen boy lives in New Brunswick. He was charged wit with the following offenses: Second-degree creating a false public alarm; third-degree terroristic threats and third-degree cyber harassment.
