Here are the top 5 stories in Salt Lake City today: The Salt Lake City Council voted to extend the mayor's mask mandate for public schools in the city through spring break. The Salt Lake district is the only one in the county with a mask mandate with some of the lowest case numbers of COVID-19, which some councilmembers cited as the reason to extend the protections provided by the mandate. (Salt Lake Tribune) The 32 defendants of a massive drug ring bust that involved the NorteΓ±os street gang in and around the Salt Lake Valley have been sentenced to prison. All the defendants pleaded guilty, and most will face between 6 and 8 years in prison. (ABC 4) An unconscious worker in the industrial area of Glendale was rescued from a chemical transport tank after a hazmat crew and heavy rescue team joined the Salt Lake City Fire Department in the confined space rescue. No other details are known at this point, but a half-hour after SLCPD announced it was working on the rescue, it tweeted that it was successful. (fox13now.com) The gun that resulted in a school-wide lockdown at West High School earlier this week has now been recovered by law enforcement. Three students have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation. A picture of a gun posted to Snapchat with the caption "Inda Wild West" surfaced with a location either in or on the grounds of West High School near downtown that caused the lockdown on Monday.
