The new license allows the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMPHW) to track smoke-free ordinance violations more easily including any related to youth access to tobacco products. It will also help ensure compliance with zoning changes that reduce density of retailers and don't allow new businesses to operate within 1,000 feet of any facility that serves children, such as libraries and community centers.
