PETALUMA, CA — The Petaluma Police Department renewed its plea for information Wednesday in connection with a missing person case from 1997. Police said new DNA evidence has emerged in the disappearance of Janie June Coe, who was last seen at 3 p.m. April 29, 1997, in Petaluma after returning from a job interview. At 6:17 p.m. that same day, an unidentified woman driving a 1978-1982 Ford Mustang used Coe's ATM card at the West America Bank in Petaluma, police said. On May 5, 1997, Coe's van was found abandoned in Napa, parked next to a vacant field. "Janie's children have not heard from her since her disappearance," Petaluma police Spokesperson Jennifer Pritchard said. "25 years later, new DNA evidence has emerged in Janie's disappearance." A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information that leads to an arrest.
