YARDLEY, PA — The Police Chief of the Yardley Borough Police Department will begin hosting a monthly radio program on policing and law on Tuesday, Dec. 21. The show will be broadcast and recorded by WBCB 1490AM. The program, 'Bucks Blue', will see Kelly and guests tell positive stories of policing and highlight examples of local community policing, something Kelly is very passionate about. "I decided to accept [hosting the show] because I subscribe to and practice the tenants of community policing and think police should take every opportunity to interact with the people we serve," Kelly said. Kelly, who previously served as the Deputy Chief of Police for the N.J. Transit Police Department, is no stranger to the world of radio. He previously co-hosted 'Yardley Boro on Air' with Mayor Chris Harding on the same radio station. "I'm guessing I did a good job since I was approached by WBCB with this opportunity," Kelly said. While working with Mayor Harding had a great impact on Kelly's view of radio, he says that he was most influenced "by the great police work that is being done in this County and remain impressed by the men and woman who are doing that work." Kelly, who also holds a part-time faculty position at Bucks County Community College, said he will be interviewing various officers and law officials to learn more about them as public servants, as well as their paths to these careers, the agencies they work for, and some of the work or programs they have had success with. The first show will feature Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub and Officer Melissa Robison of the Middletown Township Police Department. The show will air at 1 p.m. The show will be aired on the third Tuesday of of every month for the foreseeable future.
