Press release from the City of Oak Forest: December 15, 2021 The City of Oak Forest has hired Edmond Cage as economic and community development director, effective Monday, December 20. Cage's appointment was approved by the City Council on December 14. "We are very excited to welcome Ed to our team," said City Administrator Tim Kristin. "I believe his energy, creativity, intelligence, and strong people skills make him ideal for this role." Most recently, Cage served as the community development director for the City of Wood Dale where he worked to bring national and global companies to town, including Amazon, Starbucks, Nippon Express, and Duravant Manufacturing. In addition to attracting new businesses, Cage implemented a commercial occupancy program, supervised the adoption of a new comprehensive plan, enhanced building and development applications, and developed improved flow charts for the zoning variation, special use, and zoning amendment processes. He also established a geographic information systems analyst position to improve efficiency on projects and data collection. Prior to Wood Dale, Cage served as the zoning coordinator for the City of Park Ridge, community development director for the Village of Homer Glen, and senior planner for the Village of Carpentersville. Cage, a native of England, earned a bachelor's degree in town planning from the University of Westminster and a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a professional member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, a member of the American Planning Association, and a certified real estate broker in the state of Illinois.
