WOODBURY, MN — The Minnesota State Patrol on Tuesday released the identity of a Woodbury teen who was killed in an early morning crash in Roseville.
Michael Esler, 19, was driving east on Highway 36 around 2:35 a.m. Tuesday when his car left the road near Lexington Avenue and hit a guardrail, police said. The car then flipped onto its side and caught fire, according to police.
Esler's car was "heavily damaged and fully engulfed in flames" when emergency crews reached the crash, the State Patrol said.
A GoFundMe campaign set up to support Esler's fiancé and 1-year-old son raised more than $5,400 from 100 donors by 11 a.m. Wednesday.
