MBIT Students Participate In Fundraiser For Children

JAMISON, PA — The Middle Bucks Institute of Technology participated in a fundraiser to supply children with warm coats for the winter. The event, titled 'Driving the Cold Away', is sponsored by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. The students built a unique collection container from a car engine, calling their campaign "Change for Change" to encourage fellow students to donate their extra change. The students who participated are enrolled in the school's Automotive Technology and Collision Repair Technology programs. The foundation that oversees the fundraiser usually works with local car dealerships. "This is a heartbreaking situation, as no child should have to go without the necessity of warmth and comfort," the school said in a statement. Students were able to collect $1,120, which was given to the fundraiser, which was established in 2008 and provides new coats to underprivileged children. The foundation is on track to distribute over 53,000 new coats, having distributed a total of $7.3 million in coats since its inception.
