Description

BERKELEY — The city of Berkeley on Tuesday night approved a $67.5 million affordable housing plan. The funds will go toward the creation of 406 new affordable and permanent supportive housing units and the renovation of an additional 66 affordable housing units. The funding commitment to affordable housing is among the largest in Berkeley history, city officials said. "This significant investment will help us provide much needed housing for our unhoused, low-income, teachers and working-class residents who are being priced out of the region,'' Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin said in a statement. "This continues our acceleration of the development of affordable housing which for too long has been severely underfunded."
