Press release from the City of Benicia: December 13, 2021 Today, the State Department of Health has provided additional guidance due to an increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in California. Since Thanksgiving, the statewide seven-day average case rate has increased by 47% and hospitalizations have increased by 14%. Amidst the emergence of the Omicron variant, and as winter holiday gatherings approach, the State has updated guidance measures on face coverings, travel and testing for attendees of mega events. Guidance for Face Coverings (starting December 15)The State has updated their Guidance for Face Coverings: Masks will now be required for all individuals in all indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status from December 15, 2021 through January 15, 2022 (surgical masks or higher-level respirators are recommended). Travel AdvisoryThe State is issuing the following recommendations, which supersede all prior Travel Advisories: All travelers arriving in or returning to California from other states or countries should follow CDC travel guidance.All travelers arriving in or returning to California from other states or countries should test 3-5 days upon arrival.All travelers who test positive or develop symptoms of COVID-19 should isolate and follow public health recommendations. Beyond the Blueprint Framework for Mega EventsFor Mega Events: Effective December 15th, for those individuals who cannot provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, testing is required to be conducted within one day for antigen tests, and within two days for PCR tests prior to entry into the facility or venue. Mega events are defined as crowds greater than 1,000 (indoors) attendees or crowds greater than 10,000 (outdoors) attendees.
