Description

Press release from the University of Alaska Anchorage: December 15, 2021 The UAA Administration invites your feedback on the current draft of a proposed UA Voluntary & Involuntary Leave of Absence Regulation for students, available on the UAA intranet. To receive this document in an alternative format, please contact the UAA Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Office by emailing: [email protected]. The purpose of the proposed regulation is to provide a standard approach for students needing to leave the university when a student's physical, psychological, and/or other extenuating circumstances substantially impair the student's ability to function safely or successfully as a member of the university community. Once adopted, this regulation is intended to replace retroactive/late withdrawal policies currently used at UAF, UAS and UAA. Since fall 2017, individuals from UAF, UAA and UAS have assisted the UA General Counsel's Office in developing this regulation. Opportunities to review drafts were provided last in 2019, through the UA System Councils, and through the UA System Governance Office. You are invited to submit comments on the policy by January 14, 2022 through this Feedback for the UA Voluntary & Involuntary Leave of Absence Regulation form. This press release was produced by the University of Alaska Anchorage. The views expressed here are the author's own.
