Description
“CHRISTMAS WISH LIST” Dear Santa: I realize that you’re extremely busy this time of the year, but I’m hoping that you might consider granting a little Christmas Wish of mine. After all, it is “the season to believe”, right? You see, I’ve been getting together with some good friends on and off for over 10 years now on a weekly basis (Tuesday evenings). We’ve got a couple of guitars, a bass player, drummer, and female vocalist who enjoy playing a variety of music with the goal of playing out once or twice a month. Some of the artists we cover include Miranda Lambert, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton, Aretha Franklin, Toby Keith, Elle King, Gretchen Wilson, Greg Allman, The Georgia Satellites, Paolo Nutini, John Mellencamp, Ben E. King, Susan Tedeschi, Martina McBride, The Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones, The Temptations, Linda Rondstandt and Darius Rucker, among many others. If we enjoy playing the song, the artist doesn’t really matter. We also have no allusions about doing the songs “exactly like the original recordings”. We realize that studio effects, musicians and back-up vocalists prohibit that from happening to be completely honest about it. We like to keep our rehearsals extremely friendly and informal, yet organized, to assure that we have both a good time and a productive one at the same time. We’re also well beyond the point of putting up with any stress, drama, or over-inflated egos. As far as possible “gigs” go, we’d prefer venues such as corporate and community events, city and parish festivals, art and car shows, and anything else outdoors in lieu of the bar scene. We’ve actually “been there and done that” years ago. Great memories, but not our top priority right now. So, Santa, getting back to that “Christmas Wish”: I’m trying to add a keyboard player with similar interests to complete our group. If my wish is granted it certainly would make for a Happy New Year! We certainly don’t need some sort of “prodigy”, but simply somebody who’d be a “good fit” with the rest of the band members and the music we enjoy playing. To make your decision a little easier, please don’t consider age, gender, or race any type of restrictions. In regard to the age factor, we’re certainly no “spring chickens” (late 40s – late 60s). We simply need someone who can be counted on to show up for practices on a weekly basis, as well as any gigs that we may book. In other words, someone who understands the meanings of words such as “responsibility” and “accountability”. A keyboard player with some vocal ability would really make the holiday season special! I’d be more than happy to answer any and all questions concerning the band in general. Any interested parties can simply drop me a line and I’ll respond as expeditiously as possible. Thanks in advance for your time and your help, Santa. I’m hoping this might be the Christmas that I finally get this project up and running. Merry Christmas to all!
